Sexuality and Why Women Like Gay Men
The first time I went to a gay club, I was quite taken in. There was more energy in the club than any other I had ever visited. I danced all through the night, in full abandonment, and before you knew it, I had met countless new men who were all eager to dance with me, with no inhibitions. I knew then that I would always visit gay clubs. Because I could dance like that and no man would assume I was doing it to gain something sexually. They wouldn't start groping me, and they wouldn't make me feel cheap. I could be myself.
But that is me and because I like dancing. Yet the lack of threat from these men is a big reason why women like having gay men for friends. And the fact that very often, talking to a gay man is almost like talking to a woman. You can sit and gossip for hours, discuss clothes and make up (and at the risk of reinforcing stereotypes, you do get great tips from them).
Like my old school friends who were visiting me once and met my gay friends. My school friends had gone the conventional path of school, university, then marriage and children. While they had partied a lot when they were younger they had fallen into the routine that most marriages seem to follow. Meeting my new friends, for them, not only opened up a new world, but gave them an opportunity to talk to men who would not pose a threat to their marriages.
To me this is understandable. But, interestingly enough, I cannot say vice versa when it comes to men and lesbian women. I have never seen men wanting to befriend homosexual women unless it is a part of their fantasy. And boy, do men like the idea of two women getting it on!
The Internet is full of it. Type lesbian sex and 99 per cent of the sites will portray sex between women deliberately tuned to male tastes.
Incidentally, the number of men who are willing to be seen as gay to get closer to women is on the rise. Getting the trust of women and lending a shoulder are an easy way of getting a woman to let her guard down. But once the cats out of the bag, they have to move on to some other unsuspecting female. As for men and lesbian women, many feel threatened by the fact that the women are happy in themselves and do not need men. Perhaps the fact that there are sperm banks and men could become redundant stirs some basic protective instinct in them.
As for me, I like men and not always sexually. The ability to express yourself freely is important, and I can do that with my straight and gay male friends, and I am grateful for that. But I know that if I dance sensuously with my straight male friends, they will be inclined to look at me differently. And I do not want that. Hence, G-A-Y it is for my wild nights out.
